Teens and Sunday School.

So, I always find it ridiculous when parents and Sunday School teachers freak out because they can't understand why their teenage children and students are skipping out on their Sunday School classes. They go all up-in-arms with the funniest looks of confusion on their faces and worry that the missing teen may have a failing testimony or is "spiritually sick." It's so stupid. So, today I write this blog to each of those parents, teachers, bishops, coordinators, leaders, etc. who are categorized under this list of paranoid Sunday School people: let me tell you why your teens are skipping out.

It's really simple- Sunday School is BORING!!! Even the most religiously-oriented teens among us have had the thought of skipping Sunday School at least half a dozen times. It's because it's so BORING!! I mean, come on adults- what kid wants to listen to a teacher monotonously read out of a manual, make each of the kids read 6 or 7 verses of scripture that no student understands and no teacher explains, and sit with a growling stomach for an hour? I'll tell you that no normal kid does!

So how do you make it interesting? It's simple: don't read the manual, don't read so many scriptures (especially if you're not going to explain them in an interesting manner), have discussions with the kids, and BRING FOOD!!! Sunday School would still be painful, but at least it wouldn't be torturous!!!

Amen Brother!
I know how you feel my Sunday School class used to be like that, now we just talk about random things. I think that it has something to do with all of the random people who are in my class. And Our teacher brings food like every single time and when she does not we go to her house and make waffles.

Amen! My Sunday school teachers are even bored with their own lessons! They just DON'T COME whenever they feel like it, and don't tell anbody, so we sit there while the leaders scamper around trying to find a movie that relates to the lesson. Heaven forbid they actually pick an INTERESTING movie. We always end up watching some commentary on the old testament and it's temple rituals or something like that, and the "animation" is just a camera zooming in and out of a picture of some sort of desert scene. It's SO boring! Anyway, I know how you feel, yet I've never skipped...hmmm.....
