Referees- You Gotta Hate 'Em
Everybody hates a "piece-of-crap" referee. Heck, many people even hate the good ones.
I've worked as a certified referee for the United States Soccer Federation for two years. The job's got flexible hours (believe it or not), a fabulous pay for a teenage job, and always a guaranteed screaming parent, cussing coach, or mouthy player (that's probably why they pay us so well:) ). The soccer field, literally (and I'm not joking), can be a battlefield of bad words, mean signs and fingers, or can even break out in an occasional fight. In all my years of "experience," I've seen and heard a lot of crazy things out there, and I've always wondered why and how people can get so mad at us, when it's them who are causing the problem.
The truth is that everybody wants their team to win (duh), and for some odd reason refs seem to always be getting in the way. The fact that they are supposed to be fairly applying the rules of the game seems to make many cringe, especially when the "calls" hurt their team's advantage to winning the game.
I guess I should be condemning people for yelling and screaming at referees, since I'm one, and I hate having some Nazi Soccer Mom screaming profanity at me from the sideline; but, again for some odd reason, I still scream (not necessarily profanity) and make fun of dopey referees, which, in my opinion, are all of them. You can't help not mocking them. In fact, it's almost impossible to maintain your temper when a ref denies the goal your soccer team scores.
What I'm trying to make you realize is that refs get paid really well, and they like it, and they like being able to act like they have "experience" just because they survived some coach who was foaming at the mouth and running at them with a knife in his hand. It makes them feel like they're "macho men." Besides, they stick with their jobs, regardless of what has happened throughout their career, and their proud of it. So make it worth their while and their pay, not necessarily by cussing them out (though they get a kick out of that afterwards), and feel free to express your emotions in the middle of your games (just be aware of when "enough" is "enough").

Wow, what a crappy blog. This kid doesnt understand the real world of reffing. He just must be a terrible ref because in all the years that I've been a ref the soccer field has been a calm and peaceful one. Just kiddin jate, haha i swear that one girl looked exactly like heather. She could"ve been her twin.-Brando
=D I have to admit it...I AM one of those people that gets angry at refs occasionally (okay, maybe more than occasionally, but mostly only when they are bias AGAINST BYU.) But, I'd imagine that you're a much better ref than any of them! Especially because I KNOW you'd be in favor of our mighty cougars!
